Make Merton Merry are delighted to announce our first artist to come onboard with the project is Katie Parsons.
Katie works out of her studio in Wimbledon and has a particular passion for collage and printmaking. Katie also tries to use recycled materials where possible and recently completed an artist’s residency at Queens College Prep School in Regents Park.
We are loving her colourful, simple, yet sophisticated approach to her work and are looking forward to seeing what the children come up with in her workshop!

Our latest artist to join Make Merton Merry is Portia Dadley, who possibly a bit confusingly, works with a number of fellow creatives under the umbrella of 'Made in Merton'!
As the name suggests they are very much a Merton collective delivering lots of projects throughout the borough we know that their workshops are bounds to produce some great results!

The Artist Dickie W currently splits his time between Merton and the North East of England. Previously he served as an independent councillor for Merton Park Ward, as part of his passion was to see Morden Regeneration get underway (it didn't, despite numerous funding opportunities) However, the experience and insight did give him the idea of connecting artists with local schools and to display the work in local businesses to help encourage people to vist their local high streets and engender a sense of civic pride; and so he decided after stepping down as a councillor, to apply for funding to do carry out the project.
Dickie already had proof of concept as he had for many years produced an annual Chirstmas Window for Turner Property in Morden, using work created by Children at St Teresa's Primary School. Gathering lots of interest from the parents and pupils and the general public, who recognised the simple joy and value of seeing colourful, window displays brighten up the high street.
